The Reflection Room

A structured space to think clearly, reflect deeply, and move your ideas forward.

If you work independently as a freelancer, business owner or founder, your biggest challenges don’t come from a lack of ideas.

  • You’re thinking about your work while walking the dog.

  • Turning ideas over in your head late at night.

  • Starting things with energy, then losing confidence or momentum along the way.

When you work for yourself, there are very few spaces where you can pause, think properly, and be supported while you figure things out.

The Reflection Room exists to create that space, because thoughtful reflection leads to action.

What People Are Saying

I’m seriously impressed by the whole thing - the concept, the structure, the delivery. Honestly, the programme and your delivery is incredible”

Jo Williams

You’ve provided food for thought in the shape of prompts that take us to new concepts and inspirations. This in turn has fostered really honest chats in the group.

Insightful, guiding & grounding, sustaining.

What Questions Do You Have?

  • Not at all.

You’re invited to join the Reflection Room if you’re exploring an idea, navigating a transition, or trying to make sense of several possibilities at once.

Reflection is often the step that helps you take action. Through conversation, prompts, and psychological insight, you’ll find ideas which once felt vague begin to take shape.

  • Independent workers: creatives writers, coaches, freelancers, consultants, and founders.

We share a curiosity about our work and a desire to think more clearly about what we’re doing and why. Some of us have a specific project we want to move forward. Others are simply looking for a space to reflect on direction, identity, and the next stage of their work.

You don’t need to have a particular kind of business or project to join. The only real requirement is a willingness to reflect and take part in thoughtful conversation.

  • The weekly and monthly group sessions are relaxed and thoughtful conversations where members can share what they’ve been reflecting on.

The aim isn’t pressure or accountability in the traditional sense. Instead, the conversation helps people organise their thinking, gain perspective, and often identify the next step forward.

Many members find these discussions are where reflection begins to turn into action.

  • If you choose the Reflection Room + Psych Insight option, you’ll join a small group session with two or three other participants.

Each person has around 20 minutes to explore an idea, challenge, or question.

You might bring a piece of writing, a research idea, a business decision, or something you’re feeling stuck on. Together we apply psychological thinking and perspective to help you see the situation more clearly and identify possible next steps.

These sessions are focused, supportive, and often lead to powerful shifts in how people approach their work.

  • Where is the Reflection Room hosted?

The Reflection Room is hosted on Heartbeat, a platform designed specifically for group coaching and community spaces. There is also a phone app, and one of the things I want to encourage is that you use the reflections at a time that suits you.

One of the things I’ve learned from running spaces like this is that the platform really matters. If it’s clunky or noisy, people stop using it.

Heartbeat is easier to navigate, which makes it much better suited to the kind of reflective conversations we have inside the Reflection Room.

It’s where you’ll find the weekly prompts, ongoing conversations, and space to connect between our live group sessions.

Once you join the Reflection Room, you’ll receive an invitation to access the space.

  • Most members spend around one to two hours per week engaging with the Reflection Room.

This includes the weekly group call and a short reflection prompt.

You’re always welcome to engage more deeply if you want to with the chat space, but the structure is designed to support meaningful reflection without becoming another overwhelming commitment.

If weekly feels too much, join our monthly call.

  • The weekly group calls will take place on Mondays at 09:30am (UK time) and once a month on Wednesdays at 1pm (UK time).

They offer a chance to pause at the start or the week, or reflect on what’s emerging in your work with me and other members each month

You might choose to join us weekly, monthly or both.

The group sessions are live conversations and aren’t recorded, which helps create a more open and reflective space for discussion.

However, the weekly reflection prompts are always shared in the community space, so you can still work through them in your own time and contribute to the discussion when it suits you.

Many members dip in and out depending on their week. The Reflection Room is designed to support reflection and progress without rigid attendance expectations.

  • The Reflection Room is intentionally kept small enough for conversation and connection.

The aim is to create a space where people can think together, share ideas, and explore questions in a supportive environment.

Because of this, everyone has the opportunity to contribute if they wish.

Spaces will be capped at 12 members and this means you get better access to me (Currently there are six of us in the space.)

  • You’re always welcome to simply listen and reflect, especially in the early weeks while you’re getting comfortable in the space.

Some members speak often, while others prefer to listen and contribute occasionally. Both ways of participating are completely welcome.

I run the Reflection Room within school hours alongside my PhD, so I understand how valuable and limited focused work time can be.

What matters most is engaging with the reflection prompts and allowing yourself the time and space to think about what’s emerging in your work.

  • It’s a space you can help shape.

Members are welcome to start conversations in the community space, organise co-working sessions, if something would be useful to explore together.

Spaces like this often become most valuable when members feel able to contribute their own energy and curiosity in ways that reflect the interests and needs of the people inside it.

To keep the environment supportive and focused, the Reflection Room is not a place for selling services or promoting offers. Instead, the emphasis is on thoughtful conversation, reflection, and mutual support.

  • Your time and your rythymn of working.

Some folk need or prefer a weekly call, but this doesn;t work for everyone. The monthly sessions are 2 hours in length and provide an alternative way to engage.

You can attend both, however there may be some overlap in the reflection prompts. Perfect if you want to sit with something for longer.
